It’s Indoor Market time again! We have great vendors again today and we have board members on hand to talk with you if you’re interested in what NUCMC is about and finding out how you can become a member. Feb 8th, 9am-2pm.
Don’t forget to put the Feb 22nd indoor market on your calendar as well!
The New Ulm City Council granted NUCMC’s request for a Conditional Use Permit at their Feb 4th meeting! With this approval we’re one step closer to opening our doors as a Food Cooperative!
New Ulm Community Market and Cooperative’s building at 526 South Minnesota Street is designated a Heritage Preservation Landmark by the City of New Ulm and its history as a neighborhood grocery store (the former Tausheck Grocery Store) means there were unique considerations required. The Councilors and Planning Commissioners were very supportive and had great questions for the NUCMC representatives at the hearing and meetings. It’s very exciting to continue the momentum toward opening!
How can you help NUCMC become a reality and open the doors? Your membership and financial contributions are the most important help. Please visit our Membership page for more information. There will be some work days scheduled and volunteer opportunities for those who can donate their time. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for announcements or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We are also seeking additional board members. Visit our Board page for more information.
Our indoor markets are continuing this month with markets scheduled for Feb 8th and 22nd 9am-2pm. We will continue to have great local vendors and opportunities for the community to join us for a chance to visit, hang out, and learn more about the New Ulm Community Market and Cooperative!
It has been wonderful to meet and talk with members who are already enjoying the benefits of having a Cooperative in town. Each market has been a chance to speak with people who aren’t familiar with food coops and to meet people who are interested in joining or participating in making NUCMC a strong part of our communities.
Tell your friends, neighbors, coworkers, random people on the street! The response has been fantastic and we’ve been adding new members at every indoor market.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to escape the snow and cold for a little while? Maybe a farmers’ market would bring back memories of summer and sun! Join us for our regularly scheduled Indoor Farmers’ Market January 25 from 9am-2pm and see what the buzz is all about. We have some great vendors and the NUCMC building is warm and a great gathering place.
Vendors for the 25th will include:
Our first Farmers’ Market on December 14th was met with a lot of enthusiasm. Thank you to the vendors, members, and community members! It was really great to see our space filled with people and hearing all the fantastic conversations. Many people stopped throughout the day to shop and chat.
Because of the success of this event, the NUCMC Board has decided to hold the Indoor Farmers’ Market on a regularly scheduled basis through spring of 2014! It has also been decided to extend the hours of the Indoor Farmer’s Market to 9am – 2pm. We will host up to 15 vendors and hope to offer as diverse a selection as possible.
The dates scheduled for January are:
- January 11th 9am-2pm
- January 25th 9am-2pm
Please join us and explore some great products from local vendors! There will be a Coop representative there so come and chat with us about NUCMC and find out about becoming a member!
If you are a local vendor or artisan and are interested in participating please contact us at email@example.com and check out the vendor application below.
Our Open House was a smashing success! A big thanks to everyone who stopped by and became a member, bought baked goods, made a donation, and/or made a bid on a silent auction item. We were so very pleased with the evening. A big thanks to all of our volunteers, our very active board members, and the local businesses that made donations. We are that much closer to opening our doors as a retail store thanks to all of the support.
It was wonderful to meet so many new faces and get to know some of our new neighbors. Everyone had a lot of fun!
There will be many local vendors featured. You won’t want to miss it!

The New Ulm Community Market and Coop welcomes Katie Hesse as a new board member!
“I am so excited to be a Board Member of the New Ulm Co-op! My family and I believe in eating all natural organic foods. What great way to support our local organic farmers and gardeners to have the opportunity to shop in one location in our own city for organic products that are free of chemicals and pesticides. What a great asset to our community for healthy eating and supporting New Ulm!” – Katie Hesse.
Now, I have a job for all of our fans and members:
